This sale is being conducted due to owner having a stroke.

(106) Angus base cows consist of (90) Angus cows & (16) BWF cows, (61) Angus sired calves, (6) Purebred Angus bulls.

After E.B. went thru the herd & scratching his head a lot this is his thinking.  This ia basically a spring calving herd, looks like most will start calving in February thru April, there will be a few cow/calf pairs that more than likely will sell as 3-n-1. The largest % of the (61) Angus sired calves are approx. 375 – 525#, both bulls & heifers.  The largest % of cattle look to be 1st to 3rd calvers.  There are just a few matron cows.  Frame size 5 ½, wt. range 975# – 1275#, body condition is fairly good with a few thin cows.  These cows are wintered on hay bales, minerals & protein tubs.  They are fed once a day every day ground hay w/just a dab of pellet feed mixed in.  Jim found out by grinding the hay it took 50% less hay each year to feed the same amount of cattle in the winter.  A lot of the calves will be grouped & sold as good feeding calves or a nice set of replacement heifers for future mama cows.

(6) Purebred Angus bulls – at press time, this is what E.B. has come up with.  With the help of George Wynne – Gretna, VA the #85 bull was purchased this November – Reg.#19114947 BD 9-23-17, 3.86# of gain on 96 days of feed @ George’s Gretna, VA. FS 6.5, CED 11 , bull was raised by Roger Wynne – Axton, VA.  (1) bull is carrying the 44 brand of Cameron, TX (he appears to be a pet),  working on info for the other (4) bulls – Reg.#17371009 BD 10-02-11; Reg.#17264306 BD 12-03-11; Reg.#16934437 BD 08-28-10; Reg.#+16919902 BD 11-04-10.

Herd Health:  To the best of my knowledge Jim followed a protocol of Halifax County Veterinary Center from Halifax Va.  According to family & neighbors these cattle were worked late September with the following vaccines & each year cows received Cattlemaster Gold FP5L5, Utra Choice 8, & dewormed.  Calves received INforece3 (this is nasal vaccine) Ultra Choice 8, dewormed, no implants.

These cattle are well trained to UTV w/a bucket in the back, they will follow -U- all over the farm.  We are planning on working the cattle on Monday & putting in outside feeding pens.  They will be brought in on Wednesday am & put in sale pens for auction @ 1:30pm Wednesday 16th of January.  If –U-need good genetics & cattle that will perform w/hay, grass,  minerals, protein tubs & water bring your truck & trailer as we would like to load out Wednesday afternoon.  If –U- can’t make it then call E.B. or Shane.  We will be glad to make sure you are represented to what –U- would like to fit your family farm.

Note:  Jim raised his cattle the right way – summertime grass & wintertime hay.  All these cattle have been raising a calf each year that’s been in demand @ the market place.  He purchased over the years top of the line bulls.  If you want to be above average these are the genetics that will last your family for generations to come.
